Green Aracauna eggs

by Samantha Goodal
(Hot Springs, NC, USA)

Easter Egg from the Aracauna

Aracaunas are also known as "easter eggers" because of the pretty pastel eggs they produce. The ones I get are mostly green, although sometimes there are blue eggs or even purple-grey eggs! at other times they are plain old light brown. Here are some photos of green eggs with brown eggs from our other hens for contrast.

You are incorrect about Araucanas
by: Anonymous

Easter Eggers may be part Araucana but they are not Araucana. Araucana are a pure breed, Ameraucana are a pure breed which are also incorrectly called Easter Eggers. Easter Eggers are a mixed breed from Araucana or Ameraucana and something else. All 3 lay a blue to greenish egg but the Easter Egger also lays some pinkish eggs
