Debbie Hillman of Ark Birds and Bees Kent with her Crested Cream Legbars
My favourite pure breed is the Crested Cream Legbar. We breed them because they are a rare and auto sexing breed, which means that from day one, we can tell immediately as soon as they hatch, which sex they are by the different colour fluff and markings on them.
The adult birds are very lean and muscular and their plumage is very striking; the soft feathers are a mixture of cream, barred grey and sometimes chestnut.
The Crested Cream Legbar hens lay a lovely pale blue, green or olive coloured egg, which stands out from the normal shades of brown, cream and white eggs.
